
Javier Vilariño
Baritone
Javier Vilarino is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music's Opera Studio, where he performed the roles of; Sid in Albert Herring, Presto (Les Mamelles de Tirésias); Gaudenzio (Il Signor Bruschino); Enrico (Il Campanello); Herr Reich and cover Falstaff (Die Lustige Weiber Von Windsor - The Merry Wives of Windsor) and Orphée (Les Malheurs d’Orphée). Other operatic roles include; Mother (Seven Deadly Sins); Don Alfonso (Cosi Fan Tutte) and Signor Cascada (The Merry Widow) for the Newcastle
festival opera company headed by Ghillian Sullivan.
In 2010 he opened the premier season for Opera Prometheus as Tancrede in Andre Campra’s Tancrede. He has been very fortunate to receive a scholarship via the Helpmann Fellowship and used this grant to
travel to Barcelona, where he worked with legendary musician and accompanist Prof. Dalton Baldwin.
In 2012, Javier was a finalist in the Herald Sun Aria competition in Melbourne where he sang with Orchestra Victoria at the New Hamer Hall with Maestro Richard Divall. He also joined Opera Australia for the summer season as part of the chorus for "Cosi Fan Tutte" and was a member of the cast of "Cloud Street" a new Australian opera written by George Palmer.
Earlier this year Javier took part in Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour's production of Carmen and was a guest artist with Pacific Opera performing the title role of Figaro in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro"
