
Jennifer Bonner
Soprano
Jennifer is a Sydney based soprano currently employed by Opera Australia.
She completed her vocal studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. During this time she received several scholarships. Operatic roles include Serpetta (La Finta Giardiniera), Lucy (The Telephone), Emmeline/Cupid (King Arthur), Anna Reich (Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor), Asteria (Scenes from Tamerlano) and Flora (The Turn of the Screw), Susanna (Scenes from Le Nozze di Figaro), Pamina (Scenes from Die Zauberflöte).
In the 2012 Oz Opera Schools Company production of Hansel & Gretel, she performed Gretel, Sandman, Mother and Witch to over 150 schools in NSW.
At the end of 2012 furthered her studies in Germany and France, working with professionals from the Deutsch Oper and Bastille Opera in Paris, participating in masterclasses and furthering German language studies.
Jennifer has also given live radio broadcasts for 2MBS FM, performed with Cantillation, including “Gilbert & Sullivan Highlights” and Nigel Westlake’s “Missa Solis” with the Sydney Sympony Orchestra. She was engaged as a soloist with the SSO in Greig’s Peer Gynt, conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy.
Recently Jennifer was a finalist in several awards including the 2MBS Young Performer award, Opera Awards and Opera & Arts Vocal Scholarship in the Sydney Eisteddfod. Scholarships include the Family Helpmann Scholarship, Gladys Colleridge Scholarship, Patricia Lucas Music Award and nomination for a Joan Carden award.
This year she is performing with Opera Australia in four major productions, including Carmen Opera on Sydney Harbour.
