Sarah Cuming

Cello

After studying 'cello with Marianne Maxwell and Henry Wenig, Sarah completed her Diploma of Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1981. 

 

Since then she has been extensively involved in teaching, chamber music and orchestral work, playing with the MSO and the Australian Pops Orchestra.  She joined Orchestra Victoria in 1992, and in 1993 was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to study Russian 'cello technique.  As a result she spent three months studying with Walter Despalj in Zagreb, Croatia. 

 

In 1998-9 Sarah furthered her studies with Tania Prochazka in Edmonton, Canada, while working with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra on a 6-month exchange program.

 

She is a founding member of Aequales Ensemble, which gives chamber music recitals in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
